Gambling is an incredibly popular hobby.

Every day, millions of people engage with it, whether it’s through playing online casino games or betting on their favorite sports teams.

When done responsibly, gambling is a great way to pass the time, socialize, and even meet new friends – so it’s hardly surprising that it’s become so huge around the world.

As the title of this article indicates, there are some gambling laws around the world that people must follow. From country to country, gambling laws can vary, meaning it’s important that you check your native gambling laws before doing it as a hobby.

Here are four gambling laws to examine:

Gambling is legal under US federal law

In the US, people can gamble as much as they like providing that they’re over the age of 21.

Interestingly, those who are 18 or over can gamble at in-person casinos in more than ten states where alcohol is prohibited.

So, if you’re over the age of 21 and are living in the United States, it’s completely legal for you to hop online and play in some real money casinos. However, if you’re under the age of 21, then you’re legally prohibited from doing this and must wait until you’re old enough.

Gambling has been regulated in the UK since 1960 and is a legal activity

For decades, gambling has been a big part of the UK’s culture. It’s common for people to gamble in casinos, betting shops, and even at sports games.

However, to do this, you must be over the age of 18. This highlights that the UK is a little less strict when it comes to gambling when compared to the US.

The Gambling Act of 2005 helped to further loosen UK gambling regulations, which has led to it being the popular hobby that it is today.

Now, people all across the UK regularly download gambling apps – such as Sky Bet – to engage with during evenings and weekends.

Qatar has Made Gambling Illegal

Qatar, which is scheduled to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, has very strict laws regarding gambling.

All forms of gambling activities – from online to in-person play – are illegal. When you consider that not even sports betting is allowed, this is quite surprising, particularly in the modern age when most other nations at least allow gambling in some shape or form.

However, despite Qatar’s ban on gambling, it has led to an ‘underground’ gambling scene in Qatar, as there is a passion within the country from people who like sports and casino games.

North Korea Has Also Banned Gambling – But Not for Foreign Guests

North Korea is known for having tough rules in place, and they’re no different when it comes to gambling.

Citizens of North Korea are not allowed to gamble. However, there are two casinos in North Korea that allow foreign guests and visitors to play.

For example, when tourists go on guided tours throughout North Korea, it’s common for them to be invited into one of the casinos to play.
